Our client presently has a position open for the job of Technical Assistant. They are looking for someone who has sailed at sea for 5 to 10 years and is looking for a position ashore. This position would suit an ex 3rd or 2nd Engineer.
The job specification is as follows:-

Technical Assistant based in London.

â?? Monitor incoming messages from vessels, repairers, etc and alert technical superintendent for action on accidents, vesselsâ?? requirements, repairersâ?? requirements, etc.
â?? Monitor vesselsâ?? positions and trading routes.
â?? Maintain and monitor vessels maintenance records and alert technical superintendent on any short comings.
â?? Maintain and update vessels survey records, alert technical superintendent of pending surveys and arrange co-ordinate surveys.
â?? Maintain and send Bunker and LO analysing results to vessels. Alert superintendent of off specification bunker and poor LO analysing results.
â?? Arrange minor repair of machinery components and servicing of Navigational equipment.
â?? Monitor and follow up technical superintendent outstanding technical items when he is out for job assignment.
â?? Compute vesselâ??s lubricating oil quarterly consumption and submit to Finance Department.
â?? Review and maintain the boiler and cooling water treatment logs.
â?? Maintain and update vessels particulars.
â?? Monitor and file vesselsâ?? quarterly and inventory records.
